Welcome to the official county government website of Towns County, Georgia.                     

Towns County is a small rural mountain county in extreme northeast Georgia with a population of approximatey 10,000 (according to the 2000 census).  Towns County's northern border joins North Carolina.  Within the boundaries
 of Towns County are the cities of Hiawassee and Young Harris.  Towns
County has experienced a great deal of growth in the last 20 years and the population swells significantly during the summer months due to the lake recreation activities and the Georgia Mountain Fair.
